20일 니혼게이자이신문(닛케이)은 최근 반도체 제조 산업에서 중고장비 수요가 늘고 있다고 보도했다. 첨단 장비 납기(주문부터 수령까지 필요한 기간)가 길어지면서 당장 생산 현장에 투입할 임시 장비를 찾는 반도체 제조사가 늘고 있기 때문이다.중고장비 전문 판매업체 서플러스글로벌재팬의 구마자와 슈지 부사장은 “과거에 없었던 활황”이라면서 “제품을 판매하자마자 다른 고객사가 사러 오고 있다”고 전했다.
글로벌 반도체 공급난이 장기화하면서 신규 장비 납기도 짧게는 수개월부터 수십개월까지 길어지는 추세다. 장비 제조업체에 주문이 몰리고 있기 때문이다. 대만 TSMC는 장비 제조사에 자사 직원을 파견해 지원하는 등 납기를 앞당기는 데 힘을 쏟고 있다.닛케이에 따르면 1개월 정도에 확보할 수 있는 중고장비 수요가 가장 많이 늘었다. 현재 대기업 산하 임대업체 등이 첨단 반도체 제조사로부터 비사용 장비를 매입, 범용 반도체 업체에 판매하고 있다. 반도체 제조사는 밀려드는 고객사 증산 요구에 대응하기 위해 즉시 생산라인에 투입할 수 있는 중고품을 우선 구매하고 있다.
반도체 업계에 따르면 기판에 회로를 형성하기 위해 사용하는 노광기의 중고가격은 반도체 수급난이 본격화하기 전인 2년 전과 비교해 평균 2배가량 올랐다. 일부 공정 장비는 5배 이상 높은 가격으로 거래되는 것으로 알려졌다.
닛케이에 따르면 중고 반도체 장비 시장에서 가장 많이 유통되는 제품은 200㎜ 웨이퍼용이다. 현재 주류인 300㎜ 제품은 스마트폰용 반도체 등에 사용된다. 반면에 자동차·가전용 반도체는 200㎜ 제품을 사용하는 사례가 많다. 일부 상태가 좋은 장비는 현재 출시 당시 가격과 비슷한 가격으로 유통된다.
닛케이는 현재 반도체 시장의 장비 수요 증가세를 고려하면 중고 장비라도 충분히 이익을 얻을 수 있다는 업계 전망이 늘고 있다고 전했다.21일 오후 중고 컴퓨터(PC) 매입ㆍ판매 중심상가인 서울 용산구 용산전자상가 내 선인상가는 분주했다. 맥북매입신종 코로나바이러스감염증(코로나19) 대유행 이후 식당ㆍ카페ㆍ주점ㆍPC방 등에 손님의 발길이 끊기고 온 도시가 겨울잠을 자는 듯 고요하지만 용산 전자상가 만큼은 눈코 뜰 새 없는 모습이었다. PC를 포장하기 위한 에어캡 일명 '뽁뽁이'ㆍ골판지ㆍPC부품 등을 나르는 손수레가 상가 구석구석을 누볐다. 좁은 통로에선 손수레와 손님들이 엉켜 정체되는 모습도 나왔다.
용산전자상가는 사회적 거리두기 강화로 영업 중단과 재개를 반복한 PC방들이 줄줄이 폐업하면서 '반사이익'을 얻었다. 부동산114가 소상공인시장진흥공단의 상가 데이터를 분석해 발표한 자료에 따르면 PC방이 포함된 관광ㆍ여가ㆍ오락 업종은 1분기 1714개에서 2분기 1만454개로 감소해 폐업률이 10.8%에 달했다. PC방에서 대거 매물로 나온 중고 PC들은 이곳에서 부품별로 재조립되는 등 과정을 거쳐 소비자들에게 판매된다.한 중고 PC매매업자는 코로나19 이후 PC방이 폐업하면서 매입량이 10%가량 늘었다고 설명한다. 그는 "코로나19로 매입량이 늘어 긍정적인 효과를 본 것은 사실이다"면서 "매입한 PC는 분해해 부품별로 팔고 있다"고 말했다. 이어 "매입 늘어나도 부품 중 성능이 좋은 것은 곧바로 국내 소비자가 구매하고 조금 떨어지는 것은 해외로 수출해 판매처 걱정도 없다"며 "PC 매입가에서 7%정도가 이윤으로 남는다"고 덧붙였다. 이곳에서 PC부품을 취급하는 김성호(37)씨는 "최신 그래픽카드 등 인기 부품은 물건 떼오기가 무섭게 팔린다"며 "코로나19 특수까지는 아니지만 '어렵고 힘들다'하는 시기에 매출도 늘어나고 있는 것은 사실"이라고 말했다. PC조립 업체 직원인 한모(31)씨는 "중고 PC는 그대로 팔리는 것이 아니라 손님들 요구에 맞춰 다시 조립하기도 한다"며 "최근에 재택근무가 보편화되고 집에서 게임하는 수요가 증가하면서 조립 주문 물량이 많아 바쁘다"고 말했다.용산전자상가는 PC 부품, 게임 소프트웨어, 카메라 등 전자제품을 구입하려는 사람들에게는 성지같은 장소다. 1980년대 청계천 상가의 대림, 세운상가 전자상인들을 이주시키기 위해 만든 일종의 계획시장인 용산 전자상가는 1987년에 개장해 올해로 34년째 용산 한복판을 지키고 있다. 동굴처럼 복잡한 구조라고 해서 붙여진 '용던(용산 던전)', 악질 전자기기 판매업자를 일컫는 '용팔이' 등으로 인해 소비자들에게 이미지가 안 좋아지기도 했지만 코로나19로 인해 때아닌 호황을 맞고 있는 것이다. 같은 용산전자상가지만 게임 관련 상품을 판매하는 곳은 코로나19 사태의 직격탄을 맞았다. 스팀 등 온라인 상에서 게임을 구입하는 플랫폼이 대세가 되면서 오프라인 매장에는 손님의 발길이 뚝 끊겼다. 코로나19는 이런 변화의 속도를 가속화했다.국내 중고거래 시장이 새로운 트렌드로 자리 잡으면서 대기업은 물론 세계적인 투자자까지 속속 뛰어드는 가운데 가장 많은 사람이 이용한 앱이 ‘당근마켓’인 것으로 나타났다.
롯데·신세계그룹이 중고거래 플랫폼 투자를 결정한 데 이어 세계적인 중고거래 플랫폼도 한국 서비스 출시를 앞두고 있다. 중고거래 시장은 쓰던 물건을 싸게 사는 개념에서 벗어나 명품부터 한정판 굿즈에 이르기까지 모든 제품을 찾아 만족감을 얻는 새로운 거래문화로 진화했다.
24일 관련 업계에 따르면 중고거래 시장은 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 장기화에 따른 경기 불황과 모바일 플랫폼의 등장으로 계속 커지고 있다. 지난 2008년 4조원이었던 국내 중고거래 시장 규모는 2020년 20조원으로 평가되며 10여년 만에 5배 이상 성장했다.
그리고 그 중심에는 실용주의를 추구하는 MZ세대(밀레니얼+Z세대)가 있다. MZ세대를 중심으로 중고에 대한 선입견이 사라지며 하나의 소비문화가 된 것이다. 물건을 잘 소비하고 다른 사람을 통해 다시 소비될 수 있는 선순환 구조가 이제 합리적인 소비를 넘어 ‘쿨한 거래문화’로 돼가고 있다.
실제 한국인 스마트폰 사용자 3명 중 1명은 중고거래 앱을 사용한 것으로 나타났다. 앱·리테일 분석서비스 와이즈앱에 따르면 지난달 전체 중고거래 앱 사용자 수는 1775만명으로 전년 동기 대비 24% 증가했다. 만 10세 이상 한국인 전체 스마트폰 사용자 수는 4722만명이며 전체 37%가 중고거래 앱을 이용했다. 모든 세대를 합쳐 가장 많은 사람이 사용한 중고거래 앱은 ‘당근마켓’으로 12월 한 달간 1676만명이 사용했다. 번개장터 앱은 322만명, 중고나라 앱은 71만명이 사용하는 것으로 나타났다.
이에 롯데와 신세계도 성장잠재력이 큰 중고거래 플랫폼에 투자하고 나섰다. 롯데는 일찌감치 중고거래 시장에 투자했다. 롯데쇼핑은 지난해 3월 ‘중고나라’ 지분 95%가량을 유진자산운용, NH투자증권-오퍼스PE(기관투자형 사모펀드)와 공동으로 인수했다. 중고나라는 지난 2003년 설립된 국내 대표 중고거래 사이트로 회원 2300만명을 보유하고 있다. 지난 2020년 연간 거래액은 전년 대비 43% 증가한 5조원을 기록했다.
신세계도 중고 시장에 뛰어들었다. 신세계그룹의 벤처캐피탈(CVC) 시그나이트파트너스는 중고거래 앱 ‘번개장터’에 투자했다. 시그나이트파트너스는 신세계그룹이 지난 2020년 7월 설립한 벤처캐피탈로 국내외 유망 스타트업에 투자하고 있다. 이번 투자의 배경은 중고거래 시장이 고성장을 지속하는 점과 중고거래가 활성화된 명품·스니커즈·골프 분야에서 강점을 가지고 있다는 점이다. 향후 신세계 계열사와의 시너지 창출도 고려했다는 게 회사 측의 설명이다.
또한 전문가들은 MZ세대의 소비력이 향상되고 명품 열풍이 지속되는 만큼 중고 명품 시장도 더욱 빠르게 성장할 것으로 보고 있다.
세계적인 중고거래 플랫폼도 한국 서비스 진출을 준비하고 있다. 미국의 더리얼리얼, 스레드업와 함께 세계 3대 중고거래 플랫폼 ‘베스티에르 콜렉티브’는 지난해 말 ‘베스티에르 콜렉티브 코리아 유한회사’를 설립하고 올해 상반기 중 서비스를 시작할 예정이다. 베스티에르 콜렉티브는 중고 명품 위주로 거래한다. 업계에서는 이 회사의 가치를 2조원으로 평가했다.
국내 럭셔리 쇼핑 플랫폼들도 서비스 강화와 중고 명품 판매에 뛰어들고 있다. 중고명품 매입 및 위탁 판매 플랫폼인 구구스는 최근 시세정보 조회와 정품체크를 할 수 있는 서비스인 ‘Ai구구스’를 런칭했다. 캐치패션은 최근 ‘중고 명품 매입 서비스’를 시작했으며, 트렌비도 ‘중고 명품 리세일 사업’을 운영하고 있다.
특히 리본즈는 국내 중고 명품 시장에서 가장 부상하는 명품 플랫폼이다. 최근 소비보다 체험을 중시하는 MZ세대의 성향 덕에 리본즈가 운영하는 국내 최대 규모의 명품 렌탈 서비스 ‘렌트잇’이 빠르게 성장하면서 이에 구조적으로 성장이 연동된 중고명품사업부 ‘리본즈 빈티지
